Welcome fellow brunch addicts, followers and friends to the first Brunchaddict AGM. So crack an egg and roast your beans, as we give you the year that was 2011 in brunch. It all started in January, where we (Mr LB and Miss SL) decided to take our food adventures to the World Wide Web. We took photos of our food and at the end published our two cents worth. The blog had forced us to remove ourselves from personal favourites, which had included Social Roasting Company & St Ali to new and unheard of cafes including The Little Ox and Pint of Milk. We’ve been very impressed with some of the places we have tried along the way, adding some new favourites to our list. Melbourne being Melbourne, however, is always evolving and there are so many more places for us to try!
In 2011 there was a whopping 79 brunches consumed with the largest quantity of meals being the humble fritter (corn, zucchini, pumpkin – you name it!). Oddly, the classic omelette came in second. Finally, the big brawl between Big Breakfast and Veggie Breakfast was a draw, delivering a king hit of awesome flavour with seven appearances.
In terms of caffiene, 99 cups of coffee were consumed. This isn’t a surprised considering Mr LB would drink on average 365 cups of coffee a year. It just happens! Surprisingly our most consumed blend was a tie between 5 Senses and AllPress at 12 apiece. Our current best coffee blend, Seven Seeds came second. Coffee will remain an important feature and further explored in 2012, because nothing beats eating brunch with a fine blend of coffee.
